Data Brief: Indiana Mental Health Professionals 2012 Licensure Survey
Understanding Indiana’s healthcare workforce is critical to ensuring that Indiana residents have access to high quality care, to developing programs that train practitioners to meet future needs, and to recruiting and retaining healthcare professionals in Indiana. The mental health workforce in Indiana is composed of social workers, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychiatric/mental health advanced practice nurses. The data summarized here were collected during biennial license renewals in 2012 and 2013, and in a 2014 survey of psychiatric nurses.
2013 Indiana County Fact Sheets
These fact sheets present detailed information on each of Indiana’s 92 counties. Information is provided on population and health system characteristics for each county which is critical to Indiana’s health system for planning and policy development. For each county, population characteristics such as age, race, economic indicators, health status, and education attainment were reported. Health system characteristics were also reported. Health workforce supply, healthcare facilities, and health professions shortages were used to estimate access to health care for each county. Data in each fact sheet provide stakeholders with information needed to improve the quality and accessibility of health care for Indiana residents through policy making, workforce development, and resource allocation. Additionally, fact sheets may be useful to local organizations seeking information for grant proposals or program implementation.
Data Report: 2012 Indiana Substance Abuse Workforce
The substance abuse workforce is a subset of the larger mental health workforce and includes only those professionals who are involved in the treatment of substance abuse issues. This report identifies major trends and includes key data on the substance abuse workforce that may be used to promote meaningful policy discussion and inform evidence-based policy development. Understanding the status of Indiana’s substance abuse workforce is critical to ensuring that Indiana residents have access to high quality care, to developing programs that will train practitioners to meet future needs, and to recruiting and retaining healthcare professionals in Indiana.
Indiana Mental Health Professionals 2010 Re-Licensure Survey Report
The 2010 Indiana Mental Health Professionals Re-Licensure Survey, the 2010 Clinical Psychologists Re-Licensure Survey, and the 2011 Physician Re-Licensure Survey were administered by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency under a contract with the Indiana State Department of Health. The 2011 Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Survey was administered by the Indiana Nursing Association. This report summarizes the responses to these four surveys. The purpose of this report is to provide a comprehensive description of the mental health workforce in Indiana.
