About
The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Indianapolis has a mission to provide high-quality, comprehensive health care services for United States Veterans. Ensuring health care professionals are prepared to meet the diverse health care needs of Veterans is critical to achieving this mission. As such, the Indianapolis VAMC commits significant resources to training programs and partnerships that prepare health professions students. Training programs and partnerships at Indianapolis VAMC have existed for many years, but there has never been a comprehensive evaluation these initiatives. Evaluation of the impact of these training programs and partnerships on the health care workforce and health care delivery in Indiana will help determine impact and inform future initiatives.
The project includes three objectives:
Determine the extent to which VAMC training programs contribute to Indiana’s health care workforce
Quantifying Costs (direct and indirect) Associated with Training Health Professions Students at VAMC.
Estimate the “Gap” in Indiana Health Professions Training Capacity that would occur in the absence of VAMC contributions.
