About Bowen

The Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research and Policy provides expert technical assistance and research expertise on health workforce issues, evaluations, and strategic planning support. Through partnerships with state agencies, nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, health professionals, employers, and community advocates, the Bowen Center analyzes complex health workforce challenges to inform policy and programming. Topics such as supply, demand, and distribution of health professionals in Indiana, Medicaid enrollment, and policies affecting health professionals are central service activities. Other expert research activities include producing technical resources from the collection and management of health workforce information, and the tracking and analyzing of the impact of policy trends across different states to inform evidence-based policy decisions in Indiana.

HANNAH L. MAXEY, PhD, MPH, RDH

Director and Associate Professor of Family Medicine

Dr. Hannah Maxey received her PhD from the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Indiana University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health in 2014. Hannah’s work focuses on analyzing complex health sector issues and developing strategic solutions.

About Our Faculty Fellow

BRITTANY DAULTON, PHD, MS

Faculty Fellow

Dr. Brittany Daulton is the Faculty Fellow at the Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research & Policy. Dr. Daulton collaborates with the Bowen Center team to provide leadership and expertise in Evaluation ScienceResearch Methodology and translation across the Center’s portfolio of projects. She received a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Northern Kentucky University in 2011, as well as a PhD in Educational Psychology and Research, with a concentration in Evaluation, Statistics, and Measurement from the University of Tennessee in 2015. Her interests include providing data driven solutions within the health workforce, as well as researching and promoting the role of the workforce in health equity. When not working, Britany loves all things sportsespecially cheering on her favorite teams (Go Colts!), playing a round of golf, teaching and participating in Barre workouts, and spending time with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Millie and Eloise.

Sierra Vaughn, MPH

Assistant Director of Data and Research

Sierra is an experienced research analyst with a demonstrated history of working in the research industry. Sierra has experience in research coordination, data management and leadership. Sierra is committed to improving health workforce research in Indiana and utilizing best practices to ensure quality health workforce data.

Courtney Medlock, MPH

Assistant Director of Policy and Strategy

Courtney is a health policy analyst with a personal and professional commitment to advancing health policy through policy research, relationship-building, and generating collaborative solutions. Courtney is committed to staying abreast of best practices and innovations in the health workforce space and working with stakeholders to strategize solutions for Indiana.
